Indefinite Hiatus

I am saddened to say that I will have to put my blog on an indefinite hiatus due to the fact that I currently have more than I can handle on my plate. I want to thank everyone that has ever visited this blog. I hope I have pleasured your eardrums.

You may continue to follow me on Twitter, where I will still post song recommendations and links to any other cool music related news/songs/etc. I will also continue to be a guest-blogger on Pretty Much Amazing! The Music Blog.

Bon Iver - Flume

Sky is womb
And she's the moon

What strikes me most, initially, about "
Flume" is Bon Iver's (an intentional misspelling for "good winter" in French) voice. It has a penetrating quality to it that really captures its listener, or maybe just me. After spending a few months of solitude in a cabin in the woods of Wisconsin, Bon Iver (real name: Justin Vernon) created his debut album. For Emma, Forever Ago has emotionally impacted many of its listeners. Bon Iver has received numerous letters telling him so, including that it caused a divorce, it was played for a dying parent and that it caused a Scandinavian man to fall to the floor and cry upon his first listen. If that doesn't make you wanna listen to this album, I don't know what else to tell you.

How about some fun facts!
  • After finishing the album, he bought a house in Wisconsin about 80 yards from where he was born, swearing that he will never pay rent again. This is primarily due to the fact that he likes to write on his walls and most landlords aren't very fond of that.
  • Despite being compared to Sam Beam of Iron & Wine and even T.V. on the Radio, Bon Iver says he isn't very familiar with their music.
  • In the past, he has printed out sheets of lyrics to 3 or 4 of his songs for the audience to sing along in order to produce the right sound and effect.
Wasn't that fun?
